I am opening this workshop up to folks who are postpartum (obviously not freshly postpartum cause you probably wanna hanging in your bed!). If you have young kids or had a baby recently then I would LOVE for you to join this workshop! Would be so sweet to have some pregnant folks and some postpartum folks connecting and making earthen vessels together!
Wild Clay and Pitfire Workshop for Expecting Folks and Postpartum folks:)
Sunday, September 6th 11-5pm & Saturday, September 12th 12pm and on (for any families planning on going to the Flow of Life Meet the Doulas Event I structured this day so you can make both if you desire). Hosted on beautiful land out in Marshall NC where I (Shannon) live.
On the 6th - Come learn about wild clay: how to harvest, process and hand build your own vessels with it. Make something special for your baby with other pregnant people in the area! **Lunch and pregnancy safe herbal tea provided** I will send you home with clay to keep making things on your own!
On the 12th - We will gather back together this day and pitfire our pieces in the fire. One of the magical parts of pitfiring is the community aspect so on this day partners and kids are welcome to join and we will share food together potluck style! The pitfire goes late into the night so folks are welcome to leave at anytime this day and go rest your pregnant bodies, or stay and party:)
At the end of this workshop the goal is that you have some knowledge of wild clay, where to find it, how to work with it and how to fire pottery in the ground. You will leave with some pieces for you or your baby that you have made and also hopefully with some new connections to other pregnant people in the Asheville/Marshall areas!
I structure these workshops with the pregnant body in mind - everything is optional, go with the flow and at your own pace! - having fun making vessels together is the goal!
**no prior experience needed - all tools provided.
