Hello! I’m Shannon

Birth, herbs, clay — pretty much what I am up to all the time!

I cannot fully put into words what being able to be in the birthing space means to me. It is truly my passion and I put my whole heart into this work. I care deeply for my clients and want each and every family I work with to be able to be proud of the birth story they get to write! A lot of people don’t know what birth doula support really means, visit my doula page for a long winded answer and to book a free consult with me!

Depending on what your unique needs may be, I love to incorporate herbalism into your birthing experience. We are always learning from the land. My journey in herbalism began in 2019 at the Terra Sylva School of Botanical Medicine here in Marshall. Since then, I’ve been proudly serving as a community herbalist, crafting tinctures and teas tailored specifically to your body’s needs. Many of the herbs I use are lovingly grown and harvested from the land I tend here in Madison County, grounding my work in the richness of this place we call home.

I have been working with clay for over 13 years - I make functional wares with the local clay on my land and handmade wood ash glazes. I offer wild clay and pit-firing workshops where folks can learn about this beautiful craft - let’s get our hands dirty!

Birth Client Testimonials

From the moment I read through Shannon’s website I knew she was going to be our doula! Her creative and caring nature oozed beyond the written words and photos of her page supporting me in ways only my intuition knew I would need.

Our journey to meeting our little one was everything but what we expected it to be, and while beautiful, it challenged us every step of the way. Shannon was always meeting us where we were with kind, heartfelt, words of encouragement, and a strong embodied energy that truly got me through our birth. My water broke 4 weeks before my due date, terrifying me, and completely changing my birth plan. Shannon’s advice over the phone and in the hospital helped me to feel reassured and confident in the choices I was having to make as labor unfolded. And when we had to stay a week in the NICU with our baby girl, Shannon came and visited us, having that familiar face in that environment meant more than you could know. It was so nice having a doula that is also well versed in herbalism. She not only supported me emotionally and mentally, but also through teas, tinctures, and sitz baths through out every stage of pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. My partner really enjoyed doing a herbal session with her and felt that the products she’s suggested and custom tincture she made for him really helped him to support me during this journey via supporting himself.

She just went above and beyond all of my expectations. It was so lovely to feel truly cared for during such a raw and vulnerable chapter of my life. I could not recommend Shannon more!

When my wife told me she wanted to get a Doula I had no idea what a Doula was. Once I learned what Doula’s do I said “we don’t need that I can handle everything”.

The moment we met Shannon she was absolutely amazing to my wife. She provided her with so much useful information for her birth and gave her herbs to help with some pregnancy struggles. She met with us multiple times and created a very detailed birth plan to give my wife the birth she wanted. The most important thing was the day of the birth. I don’t know how we would have made it through without the support from Shannon.

She was like an angel floating around the room and was right there with my wife and I as we welcomed our child into the world. She also took many amazing photos and videos of the special moment. I now advocate for Doula’s.

They are invaluable for getting through pregnancy and birth and Shannon is literally the GOAT of Doulas. Worth every single penny!!

Shannon is INCREDIBLE!!

Shannon definitely made it possible for me to have the unmedicated birth I desired.

I met her at a doula collaborative in Asheville and felt that her energy and birth philosophy was just what I was looking for. We booked her shortly after! We met a few times and I felt confident that I would feel supported in my birth if she was there, no matter what the circumstances. She checked in several times at the end of my pregnancy to see how I was feeling. She also offered herbal support which was great. When I went into spontaneous labor at home, she was quick to provide phone support and helped us navigate when to contact the birth center and when we may want to travel (which was a big concern of my husband’s). She helped me deliver my first born at Asheville Birth & Wellness.

She was such a supportive presence, physically and emotionally. I don’t remember a moment where she wasn’t there during my labor and birth. She helped me in different positions and made sure I was staying as hydrated as possible. She was the perfect balance of a calm presence that helped me not panic (as much!) in the hardest parts of labor and I knew she believed in me and was rooting for me which meant the world. It was wonderful to have her immediately after birth as she helped me nurse for the first time. My family even remarked how great she was when they came to visit after delivery.
She was a tremendous help postpartum as she checked in with me and visited which helped me process the intensity of birth. I am so thankful she was part of my birth story and would hire her again in a heartbeat!! I’ll never forget locking eyes with her in labor and knowing I was not alone. She is an absolute gem!
